Not as good as I hoped

I bought this after reading many reviews, but for me it's not the best. Not great for mature skin, it seems to highlight fine lines and wrinkles, rather than hide them!

I haven’t been able to find a foundation that doesn’t irritate or cause a dermatitis flare up until now. I took a chance with this, after a lot of research and I’m so pleased I bought it. No irritation caused at all, skin feels so soft after too, not flaky or dry looking at all.. really impressed.

Love bareMinerals & this kit, but disappointed in the range of shades available...

I only started using bareMinerals products in the last couple of months, & I’m a complete convert now… absolutely love their products. The Original Matte Loose Mineral Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 is actually available in 30 shades to suit all skin types, skin tones & very importantly, skin undertones. Understanding your skin’s undertone is key to finding the right foundation & choosing the best colour palettes for your hue. The undertone is your natural colour below the skin's surface. The undertone is not the same as skin colour, the undertone is the shade within your skin colour. You can distinguish between three types of undertone: cool (bluish, red &/or pink undertone), neutral (consisting of a mix of both warm & cool undertones) & warm (gold, peach and/or yellow undertone). Despite having the same skin tone as someone else, you can have different undertones. The skin colour can change through different influences such as the sun. However, the undertone always remains the same. When you know what undertone you have, it is easier to make choices in which make-up suits you best. To create the most natural look possible, it is important to know your undertone. With the right undertone, choosing a foundation or concealer to match your skin makes it easier for you to look more natural – bareMinerals choice of shades makes this choice super-easy. For example, my skin type is combination (dry with oily t-zone), my skin tone is very light/fair, & my undertone is neutral. The Original Matte Loose Mineral Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 is suitable for creating a sheer or full radiant look, medium matte look, full radiant look or full natural look – depending on how you apply & build the product on the skin & what other products you use in conjunction with the foundation, such as finishing powder etc. Bearing all these factors in mind the correct shade for my skin tone, type, & undertone is ‘Neutral Ivory 06’ which is for a very light neutral skin with a peach hue (neutral undertone). I was going to purchase this original 4 piece make-up kit, but was so disappointed to discover that only 7 of the 30 shades in the range are available on LookFantastic, & none are suitable for my skin tone. FYI: Fair is suitable for a very fair, cool skin with a pink hue; Fairly light is suitable for very fair, warm skin with a subtle peach hue; Fairly Medium is suitable for fair, cool skin with a pink hue; Golden Deep is suitable for very deep, neutral skin with a subtle red hue; Medium Tan is suitable for medium-tan, neutral skin with a peach hue; Neutral Tan is suitable for tan, warm skin with a golden hue; Warm Deep is suitable for deep, neutral skin with a subtle red hue. If you find your shade available… buy it… it’s vegan, lightweight, talc-free matte foundation which provides a sheer-to-full buildable coverage & you will see your skin becoming clearer & healthier in appearance the longer you are using it. The matte finish coverage will last all day. It reduces shine on the skin & absorbs excess oily secretions. It helps to minimise the appearance of pores & skin imperfections, promoting clearer, healthier looking skin over time with continued use. It’s dermatologist-tested, non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic & cruelty free. What’s not to like??? It won’t clog your pores or cause breakouts nor will it settle into any fine lines or wrinkles which you may have. I recommend applying it with the brush provided in the kit, which is specifically designed for use with this product & it applies it perfectly. The SPF 15 provides sun protection against UVA & UVB rays, which is another plus. Personally, I use the BareMinerals Mineral Veil Broad Spectrum 25 Setting Powder with this, as I like the silky smooth finish it gives my skin & the additional SPF protection it provides my fair skin. I very much hope that LookFantastic will offer a wider range of shades to suit all skin types, tones & undertones in the bareMinerals range & indeed other cosmetic ranges, as several times I have decided to buy a particular product only to find that my shade was not available to purchase on the site, which is disappointing as I think it’s a fantastic site, which offers many of my favourite cosmetics, but just not in the shade I want, so perhaps a wider variety of choice in shades to suit all of the Lookfantastic customer base.
